Bangkok Flooding? Training as per usual.

I'm sure you've all been hearing news of the extensive flooding across northern Thailand, which has also spread south and is now causing problems for many people in Bangkok.

As per usual, the western media propaganda machine has caused many people to cancel planned trips to Thailand, which is another blow to the Thai tourist industry. As if the economic fallout from the badly managed flood crisis isn't going to be bad enough already...

The reality is that even though there are large portions of the city underwater, there are also large portions completely unaffected. It is a big city after all!

Living and hanging out mostly on Sukhumvit Road in the center of Bangkok, I've yet to see any flooding first hand (am I tempting fate?) and the only changes that I've seen are the quieter streets and poorly stoked mini-marts.

Baan Chang Thai has also been quiet, with many of our students taking the opportunity (work places and schools closed) to head out to the coast for a bit of time by the beach. However, it has been business as per usual at the school, with the usual classes running on schedule without problem.

So, if you're planning a trip here don't be deterred, we're here, we're open, and as per usual everyone is welcome!

Donations

Even though it's not so bad where I am, there are large portions of the country in which the floods have completely ruined many people's lives, and is still doing so.

If you can, please consider donating to one of the many charities doing great work to help the flood victims.
