Again I find myself apologising for lack of content in the last few months... Kru Aof had to go home for a month and I've been a very busy helping teach in his place, here at Baan Chang Thai, which has proved to be extremely hard work!
In fact, today was my first full day off teaching in over a month, but I can't complain because we've had some great students training with us recently. More and more guys coming from from Europe. Belgium, France, Russia, Egypt, we've had a real mix of skills and languages which has been great for me widening my own knowledge!
2011 looks to be an interesting year for us here at Baan Chang Thai, here are a few of the important news points from the last month:
Khun Taw wins his 3rd fight up in Northern Thailand
Anyone spending some time at Baan Chang Thai over the last 6 months would have met Khun Taw, who's a young soldier training with us to fight in the ring. On New years eve he had his third fight (he's now 2-1) again against a much more experienced fighter (50+ fights experience). Check out the video...
New DVD coming soon, in the meantime check out the iPhone App!
Kru Lek has recently finished putting together a new video explaining details of 20 of Muay Chaiya's Look Mai moves, which will be released soon, once we have sorted out publishing details. In the meantime there is a iPhone app covering 15 of the Look Mai moves for download from the Appl App Store. So if you're lucky enough to own an iPod, iPhone or iPad, swing by to the App Store and get downloading!!
Nopstar (MyMuayThai.com) swings by Baan Chang Thai
I've been chatting to Nopstar (Khun Mai) on the net for over two years now (and written a few articles about Muay Chaiya for his website), but never had the chance to meet in person. He was in Bangkok this Christmas/ New Years and found time to pop by for a quick chat before heading back to London. He's just written a nice piece about us here at Baan Chang Thai on his website MyMuayThai.com, which is a great resource for anyone interested in Muay Thai and the latest news regarding the art.
Full-time training - changes
Bad news I'm afraid. I initially started the full-time training concept here at Baan Chang Thai due to a number of people contacting me and expressing their wish to train in the same format as provided by ring Muay Thai gyms. Unfortunately, there hasn't been enough interest (and more importantly prebooking) slots for the training, and so it will now only be an option for groups of 5+ students wishing to come and train full-time.
To be honest, training 11 times in one week is very strenuous on the body (as some of our recent private students can testify) resulting in fatigue injury. Having a single lesson in a day, and then self training is a much more sensible option. Remember, this is not ring Muay Thai. Muay Chaiya has a much more depth and details, and requires time to get the techniques right - time self training can be just as valuable as time with a teacher.
